UK200 charity walk for Alzheimer's
Our leg of the UK200 National fundraising event was completed on
Friday 12th and Saturday 13th August, with about 50 people taking
part over the two days.
The torch made it's journey around the coastline of Jersey in
generally good weather, raising over £1500 from the extremely
generous people of Jersey.
We were delighted that Jo Cummins from the Jersey Alzheimer's
Association was able to join us at our offices on Friday morning,
as the torch began it's journey through the centre of St Helier
accompanied by 35 or so participants.
Despite some slightly inaccurate estimates of journey times, and
at least one unforeseen ice cream stop, the final group of the day
did manage to arrive at the final destination (L'Etacq) in
daylight.
Saturday morning brought some damp weather to higher ground, but
down on the beach at St Ouen it was perfect walking weather and,
joined by a number of family members and friends, we completed the
second leg of the journey, back to St Helier, almost on
schedule.
It was then time to pass the torch on to the next participating
firm, which was done on Monday at Southampton airport.
We would again like to thank everyone who kindly made a donation
to the extremely worthwhile cause.
Donations can still be made by cheque to our office (payable to
Alex Picot), or via the link on our homepage.
